'Tis the season of stress - everyone's busy, and cranky too, so now's a great time to remind kids about the importance of being nice, thankful, generous and polite.
I start my kid, Danica by reading Emily's Christmas Gifts, by etiquette honchos Cindy Post Senning, Ed.D., and Peggy Post.
I know fully that after reading the book, mu child will see that the best presents are gifts of kindness and consideration. Parts of this book further teaches Danica to always say "please" and "thank you", greet visitors by looking up at the face and saying "Hello" at the table, speak with an "inside" voice, use a napkin and utensils, and stay seated until excused, help clean up after a get-together - toss wrapping paper, put toys away, carry unbreakables to the kitchen, pick out presents to give to family and friends, when you're shopping, smile at a busy salesperson, when you get a gift, write a thank-you note.
This book teaches her to practice these rules not just in Christmas but all year long.
